Sunday Artist Shindig: Accelerate

Accelerate: Monologue Surgery

In October 2017 we held an Audition Technique Masterclass. We asked the participants at this event, what would specifically help them develop their skills ready for auditions or interviews. One to One sessions on a monologue of their choice was an extremely popular suggestion… So that’s what we’re doing!

Our Monologue Surgeries are a chance for you to spend an hour developing/sharing/enhancing your monologues that you are preparing for auditions.

Accelerate: Frantic Assembly and Physical Theatre Masterclass

 This three day masterclass includes one full day working with the UK's leading physical theatre company -Frantic Assembly. Working with a member of the Frantic team you will explore a variety of Frantic Assembly's exercises and devising methods.

On days two and three you will work as a company of performers, applying what you have learned, to develop your own new piece of physical theatre. This piece will then be shared with friends and family on Friday afternoon.

Accelerate: Putting On A Play Workshop

So you have an idea for a play and you want to put it on?

But you don’t know where to start…

This day long workshop with Northamptonshire artist Subika Anwar-Khan (Warts and All Theatre Associate Artist) and Christopher Elmer-Gorry (Artistic Director of Warts and All Theatre) will enable you to explore the process of presenting your own work.

There will also be an opportunity for you to learn how Warts and All Theatre can support you to develop your projects.

The day will include practical tasks, discussions and an opportunity to ask questions. You'll also receive some 'take-home' resources for you to use for your own projects.

Accelerate: Get In The Pool -A Staging Workshop

In this practical workshop for all abilities, director Thomas Martin (Ross & Rachel) explores how bold staging decisions and simple space work can bring life to plays and monologues, accelerate rehearsals, and level up acting work. Suitable for anyone interested in performing, directing, making or studying theatre.

As a director Thomas Martin's credits includes; the award-winning Ross & Rachel; Siren and Followers, Sing Before You Speak Again (Young Vic) and Talk Me Down (Cambridge Junction Young Company).

Accelerate: Directing Workshop

Spend two days working with our Artistic Director Christopher Elmer-Gorry as he shares his process of directing a play.
Christopher's Directing Credits include: When They Go Low by Natalie Mitchell, Hansel and Gretel by Carl Grose (Warts and All Theatre), From The Ground Up (Almeida Theatre and Edinburgh Festival 2017) Press Go (Almeida Theatre) Oh No! Not Snow! (Royal and Derngate) He also regularly directs for Drama Schools and Universities.

You’ll spend day one:
•    Exploring the role of the director and their responsibilities
•    Choosing an extract of from a play which you will prepare for a rehearsal process.
•    Discuss and develop your ideas for a ‘Directors Concept’.
You’ll spend day two:
•    Directing actors on the scene you chose on day one.
•    Sharing your work with other masterclass participants.
•    Receiving feedback for your directing process.
•    A Q&A Session exploring the role of the actor/director relationship.

Accelerate: The Power Of Play Workshop

Director Eva Sampson (Decades, Oval House and The Scarecrows Wedding, Leicester Square Theatre) leads a practical day long workshop exploring how ‘play’ is essential in the rehearsal room and when making new work.

Participants will interrogate a variety of games and activities designed for use in a rehearsal room. Perfect for any Young Artists wanting to develop their sense of play! It’s also going to be full of FUN!!

As a director Eva’s credits include: No Man's Land (National Theatre), A Peter Rabbit Tale (Singapore Repertory Theatre), Rudolf (West Yorkshire Playhouse), The Scarecrows' Wedding by Julia Donaldson, (Leicester Square Theatre), The Little Gardener (UK Tour & The National Theatre), Decades (Oval House) and Welcome to Thebes (Royal & Derngate).
